The Central Crime Branch (CCB) Narcotics Control Unit in Bengaluru seized a massive Rs 21.17 crore worth of drugs during a major operation at the city’s Foreign Post Office.
The unit, working closely with Customs officials, discovered 606 parcels containing prohibited substances. The drugs, smuggled from countries like the US, UK, Belgium, Thailand, and the Netherlands, were intercepted after inspecting over 3,500 suspicious parcels with the help of a canine squad.
Among the seized drugs were hydro ganja, LSD, MDMA crystals, ecstasy tablets, heroin, cocaine, amphetamine, charas, and ganja oil. The investigation also revealed that the accused had been importing these substances via the Indian Postal Service to sell at inflated prices in Bengaluru. The smuggling was reportedly a part of a larger illegal money-making operation targeting known clients in the city.
The CCB Narcotics Unit had previously registered 12 cases this year and arrested multiple individuals involved in similar drug trafficking activities. In September, three individuals were arrested in connection with two cases filed at HSR Layout Police Station and one case at the CCB Station. These cases, along with the post office raid, are part of a larger crackdown aimed at curbing the drug trade in Bengaluru.
The joint operation highlights the ongoing efforts by the CCB Narcotics Control Unit to tackle drug smuggling in the region. Investigations are ongoing, and further arrests may be made as authorities continue to trace the network of individuals involved in the import and distribution of banned narcotics.
